I was bit by the fitness bug early on in life. As an athlete I knew training and nutrition were going to facilitate my success, but I also dealt with a pretty bad body-image insecurity at a young age. One way around this insecurity was to start resistance training and to consume as much information as I could, through reading about fitness and nutrition.
The exercise alone eased the body image insecurity, but I still wasn’t able to really release myself from that self-induced prison.
The training and the mindful approach with my nutrition helped create the athlete I became throughout high school and college. By the time I was done with my college football days, I was walking around like a meat fridge with this body image issue. I had all this added mass, was very strong and athletic, but wasn’t where I wanted to be and needed to focus more on my nutrition and overall health.
It wasn’t until I started to compete in physique competitions after college where I gained an obsession with nutrition. The main reason for this obsession was how drastically my body changed through the manipulation of only one variable, which was NUTRITION. I left all training and cardio the same! When I saw what this did to my body, and how my insecurity was lifted from my shoulders, I became OBSESSED, and needed to know WHY!
Due to my success with competing, my knowledge of the sport, and my obsession with nutrition, I quickly became the go-to fitness and nutrition expert for my friends and family (which was a position and responsibility I enjoyed and cherished). This helped forge the way to where I am today.
My newly-found love for nutrition, coupled with the results I saw in the mirror and my ability to help others get in shape, made me feel like I was aligned with my purpose.
I had a calling that I needed to help MORE people, and that my purpose in this lifetime was to the heal people with nutrition.
When I first started off coaching, it involved bringing male and female competitors to stage. Even with a lot of success early on, something was still missing.
This is when I decided to branch out, and start helping the people who needed nutritional guidance the most. This involved:
*The parents who wanted more energy for their kids
*The dad who wanted his old athletic body back and not live with this out of shape “dad-bod” everyone is raving about
*The wife who wanted to feel confident and sexy again for her and her husband
*The middle aged man who’s doctor told him he needed to get his blood work in check or medications will have to be the answer.
Going this route, I found I am able to reach more people by focusing on overall health, body composition, and a sustainable lifestyle which led to a more fulfilling experience for me.
My main focus with nutritional coaching is to reduce the amount of stress that dieting causes, which is accomplished by the systems I’ve created to facilitate the goals of my clients in a sustainable way. Not only do I pride myself in helping people achieve their physical goals, improve the quality of life, revitalize overall health, and instill a mindset needed for success, but I pride myself in the lifestyle I teach, with the education I provide throughout the entire journey.
